Project Name Temporary Shelter Program


Project Description Back on Track: Parents & Kids Working Together
This program provides up to 30 day temporary shelter to youth who are experiencing behaviors that have placed them at risk of entry into foster care and/or the juvenile justice system.  These high-risk behaviors may include property damage, assault, aggression at home and/or school, poor school attendance or suspension, and posing a risk to family and/or siblings.  Shelter services include psycho-educational groups and individual counseling for the youth.  The family will receive counseling and case management services weekly in the home while their child is in the shelter.  Individual and family counseling and case management services will be provided for 120 days and can be extended if services are still warranted.
Eligibility Criteria Males and females, ages 12 - 19, and their families who are residents of St. Louis County are eligible to receive services.  The youth must be in the legal custody of their parent/guardian and must be at risk of entry into foster care and/or the juvenile justice system.

Program Description Transitioning Teens Program:
This program provides up to 30 day temporary shelter to youth who are currently homeless.  If reunification is possible, the youth will be enrolled in the Back on Track program.  If reunification is not possible, the youth will receive individual counseling, psycho-educational groups, and case management services designed to locate a more permanent living situation such as Transitional Living or Independent Living.
   
Eligibility Criteria Males and females, ages 17-19, who are residents of St. Louis County who are currently homeless.  Pregnant girls will be accepted only during their 1st trimester of pregnancy.  Referrals are accepted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
