Project Name Crisis Intervention


Project Description 24-Hour access to Family Intervention Specialists for St. Louis County adoptive & pre-adoptive families who are in crisis and at risk for out-of-home placement for the child or planning reunification of a child returning from out-of-home placement. Services will help families:  1) manage immediate crises and safety plan;  2) improve child, parent, and sibling relationships;  3) increase family self-management skills; and  4) prevent disruption.


Eligibility Criteria

A family in crisis, with at least one child age 3-19 pre- or post-adoptive/guardianship through foster care.

Project Description
A short term intervention with the purpose to place children with relatives/kin upon entry into the foster care system. The initial search is for grandparents, with a goal of identifying and exploring at least 80 additional relatives and 2-3 placement options. Maternal and paternal relatives are explored with equal interest. Every effort is made to keep siblings together and preserve a child’s important relationships with family, friends, and supportive adults.


Eligibility Criteria

Child has entered or re-entered the foster care system under St. Louis County Jurisdiction and is between the ages of 0 and 17.
