Project Name St. Louis County Youth Connection Helpline
Project Description

The helpline provides 24/7 crisis intervention, including mobile outreaches to home or community agencies to provide emotional support and referral information and linkage assistance for children, youth and their families in St. Louis County.  The program is a collaboration between Youth In Need, the St. Louis County Safe Place Network and Behavioral Health Response.  Consumer may call or text the helpline or go to a county Safe Place location for assistance.

 

In addition to Helpline, BHR offers Mental Health First Aid training. This 12-hour interactive course is created for the community and presents an overview of mental illness and substance use disorders in the U.S. It introduces participants to risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems, builds understanding of their impact, and overviews common treatments. Those who take the course are certified as Mental Health First Aiders. They learn a 5-step action plan encompassing the skills, resources and knowledge to help an individual in crisis connect with appropriate professional, peer, social, and self-help care.
